Day - 1 - Delhi - Leh

Arrival
and transfer to hotel
-
There will be no activity on first day.
-
It
has been strongly recommend for tourists to relax
and undergo minimal exertion to enable them to get
acclimatized to rarefied oxygen level in this
high-altitude region ensconced in the high Himalayan
plateau.
Day
- 2 - Leh - Tour of Hemis, Thiksey, Shey Palace
- Visit
the Hemis Monastery - The richest and the largest
monastery in Ladakh, on the same route, way back to
Leh.
- we'll
visit Thiksey Monastery which belongs to red hat sect
of Tibetan Buddhism, and Shey Palace - summer palace
of the kings of Ladakh called Singey Namgyal.
- A
visit to the palace will be followed by a drive back
to Leh.
- Overnight
at the hotel in Leh.
Day
- 3 - Leh - Pangong lake (150kms)
- The
main attraction of this circuit is the Pangong Lake,
situated at an altitude of 14,000 ft (4,267m).
- It
is a long narrow basin of inland drainage, hardly
6 to 7 kms at its widest point, and over 130 kms long,
- bisected
by the international border between India and China
. One fourth portion of this lake is in India and
rest in China .
- Overnight
at the hotel in Leh.
Day
- 4 - Leh - Nubra Valley (145kms)
- Morning
we depart towards Northwards across the Khardong La
the highest motorable road in the world, which is
at a hight of 5570 mts. (18300 ft.)
- after
a brief halt at the pass, we continue our drive to
a different landscape.
- We
arrive at the village of Hunder in Nubra Valley ,
check-in to a tented camp.
- Afternoon
we drive or walk up to visit Diskit Monastery. After
that, we visit the Double Humped Camel Breeding
Center .
- This
camel,also known as the Bactrian Camel is the principal
animal of inner Asia used especially on the Northern
part of the route beyond Karakoram Pass.
- Overnight
at Fixed tented camp / Hotel
Day
- 5 - Nubra valley - Leh (145kms)
- Morning,
we drive back to Leh from the same route across the
Khardong La pass.
- Upon
arrival in Leh, we check in to the hotel.
- In
the evening you'll get enough time to shop around.
- Overnight
stay at the hotel in Leh.
Day
- 6-14th april - Leh - Lamayuru - Alchi (125kms)
- After
breakfast, we then drive to Lamayuru monastery along
the Srinagar highway, founded in 11th century perched
on a spur high above the valley bottom just off the
main road.
- It
is one of the most spectacularly picturesque monastery
in central Ladakh.It is believed to be the oldest
in central Ladakh and to have been the holy
place of the Bon-chos the advent of Lamaism or Tibetan
Buddhism.
- Then
we depart for Alchi, visit the world's famous monastery
built in the 11th century by Lotsava Rinchen Zangpo.
- Alchi
monastery is the oldest monastery in Ladakh and very
different from the rest as it has a fusion of Tibetan
and Kashmiri Art.
- Overnight
stay at the hotel in Leh
Day
- 7-15th april - Leh - Delhi
- Today
you will be woken up early in the morning,
- After
a hot cup of tea/coffee you will be driven to the
airport to connect your flight to New Delhi,
- This
will be your last opportunity catch the spectacular
view of the Himalayan ranges.
